Presentation

We develop and apply a broad range of computational and theoretical methods for investigating complex cellular processes at the molecular level.

We combine statistical mechanics approaches and bioinformatic tools to push the boundaries of molecular modeling.

We particularly value collaborating with experimental partners to integrate their findings with our complementary perspective.

Workshops and schools

ateliers

The CBS is invlolved in the organisation of several workshops and schools in Structural Biology and Biophysics:

AlgoSB: Algorithms in Structural Bioinformatics School

A printable flyer (pdf) for this AlgoSB school can be downloaded from

http://algosb2022.galaxy.ibpc.fr/course-materials/AlgoSB2022_flyer.pdf

The 8th edition of the Winter School on Algorithms in Structural Bioinformatics (AlgoSB), this year will focus on "Intrinsic Disorder in Proteins: from non-folding to binding to condensation"

20-25 November 2022  - Institute for Scientific Studies of Cargèse, on the island of Corsica (France)

Contact : Nathalie Sibille (member of the board and organizer of AlgoSB 2022)

The school is sponsored by the French national research organizations CNRS and Inria, the GdR-BiM (groupement de recherche BioInformatics Moleculaire) and the Institute for Scientific Study of Cargese, Corsica.

Aim of the formation :
The Algorithms in Structural Bioinformatics (AlgoSB) series of research schools focuses on the dissemination of novel or recent theoretical approaches in structural bioinformatics in the largest sense. Leading researchers from institutes around the world deliver lectures together with hands-on practical courses. A fundamental goal of the school is to encourage a rigorous algorithmic view of these ideas while identifying new directions for exploration.
AlgoSB is aimed at bringing together scientists from different disciplinary background (computer science, biophysics, biochemistry, mathematics, ...) in a pleasant setting amenable to learning new approaches and creating synergies for future work.

Les Houches: Fluorescence Markers for Advanced Microscopies

Website : https://fluorescenceleshouches.wordpress.com/

2nd edition "Florescence markers for advanced microscopy From photophysics to biology - 2022"

10-15 April 2022  Ecole de Physique des Houches, in the French Alps (France)

Contact Emmanuel Margeat (organizer of Les Houches 2022)

Aim of the formation : This school aims at training students and researchers to master fluorescent markers used in advanced fluorescence bioimaging: their diversity, how they actually work and what are their current development.

RéNaFoBIS: National School of "Integrative Structural Biology"

Web site : http://www.renafobis.fr/

Flyer : pdf file

Contact: Nathalie Sibille (member of the board and organizer of RéNaFoBIS)

Aim the formation:
The main objective of this workshop is to offer a theoretical and practical training in the different techniques used in integrative structural biology (X-ray diffraction, small angle X-ray scattering, NMR, cryo-electron microscopy, sample preparation for structural biology, biophysical methods to study and characterize macromolecular interactions). The goals are to explain and illustrate, to an audience mainly composed of doctoral students and young researchers, the contributions and limitations of each method with a strong emphasis on their complementarity/synergies and future developments.

Public :
PhD students, young and permanent researchers from academic or private institutions. Limited to 25 selected participants. The official language of the workshop is French but presentations may be given in English, depending on the overall profile of the students. For practicals, English and French speaking groups may be organised.

When and where ?
Takes place in June each year at the CAES CNRS center in La vieille Perrotine in Oléron Island on the French Atlantic coast.

Internships

stages2

The CBS welcomes each year many interns of all levels, from high school to post-doctorate. Applications (CV and cover letter) should be sent directly to researchers from CBS teams.

PhD students are recruited through the CBS2 Doctoral School.

The PhD projects proposed by the CBS researchers can be viewed here.

Teaching old

The CBS participates to several Masters'degrees delivered by Montpellier University and the Faculty of Pharmacy:
. Master in Bio-Health (Biophysics, Structures and Systems)
. Master in Drug Sciences (Structural Biology and Rational Design of Bioactive Molecules)
. Master PIV (Physics and Engineering of Living Systems) . Master EPHE (Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes)

PhD students are recruited through the CBS2 Doctoral School of Biology and Health of Montpellier University. Three-years PhD fellowships are financed by Montpellier University, other local, national or European Institutions, or industrial contracts.
